“Global turns platform (G TURNS)” is a project that shares local charm from Japan with the world via Silicon Valley. The online talk event, which has been well received as a place to connect the world and Japan in real life, welcomed its third session on Friday, April 21. In this event, they have introduced and spread awareness of local Japanese culture and products, as well as exchanged ideas for overseas expansion, revealing various possibilities as a place of interaction.

In the morning, when the sun rises over Shimada City, the first place that its light reaches is the mountains off to the west of the city. When I first researched the city after I learned that I would be moving here, those mountains were one of the first landmarks that I noticed on the map. That is because high up on the mountainside, the giant kanji character 茶 is formed out of cedar trees.

There is potential in rural areas, not mature cities. In Japan, such a shift in values is taking place. The culture, food, and people that lie dormant throughout Japan. I want people all over the world to know about such treasures of Japan. “TURNS” will transmit information about Japan’s unknown regions to the world.
